Every time we take an adventure we prepare for it with snacks, drinks and little extras. There is always fruit along with our pre-packaged snacks and we always take granola bars with us, because of the convenience they offer plus nutritional content and taste.
Last year we went through a phase of enjoying granola for breakfast with yogurt, gelatin and fresh fruit {mostly berries and sometimes apples}. Recently we received a package of Snackle Mouth Granola Clusters for our family to try. In case you haven't heard of the term {just like I hadn't} a "snackle" is the act of stealing food in a humorous manner -as per urban dictionary-.
In all honesty the name was very appealing to our family.
Why?
Well in our family we have a couple of snackle mouths... who love to create a distraction to try the food on your plate ;)
I love how Snackle Mouth was founded by a father -John Raptis- who wanted to make healthy snacks for his endurance athlete son. Mr. Raptis created in his kitchen the snacks that would not only taste good but also provide good nutrients and in my personal opinion he nailed it! The company is based in Boulder Colorado.
For us nutrition is important, my husband is always reading the nutritional content of food products to know what he is eating and make a healthier choice. He talks about it to our kids and explains how nutrients work to help you have enough energy and be healthy. So when he read the nutritional contents of Snackle Mouth Granola Nut Clusters he loved that the sugar levels were below 8 grams per serving and that protein was between 4 and 5 grams per serving.
As for taste they really are true to taste. Here is a description of each of the flavors we received have:
Almond Berry Granola Nut Clusters: Almonds, Oats, Oat Bran, Dried Cranberries, Dried Blueberries.
Peanut Cranberry Granola Nut Clusters: Dry Roasted Peanuts, Oats, Oat Bran, Dried Cranberries, Almonds.
Bacon Maple Granola Nut Clusters: Almonds, Oats, Oat Bran, Cooked Bacon, Pecans and Natural Maple.
Sounds delicious right?
I decided to place the granola clusters in small sample plates and set them on our dining table, had everyone in our family taste them and see their reaction.
Both my husband and 6 year old daughter loved the taste and texture of the Peanut Cranberry and the Almond Berry nut clusters. They commented on how fresh and natural it tasted, my 6 year old loved to see the blueberries in the Almond Berry and she actually kept looking for more berries in the box.
As for the Bacon Maple all my 6 year old could say was that she thought she was eating pancakes with the maple syrup and bacon strips...
The packaging needs to be admired because of all the details it has my family kept saying it reminded them of totem poles and they loved that they incorporated the taste to the design so in case you didn't know how to read yet {as told by my 6 year old} "you can just look at the box and drawings and know what flavor you are trying!" Don't you love how honest kids are? I do...
Every time I opened a box and then the plastic bag inside it the scent of the granola nut clusters would come out and make me want to try it immediately. My favorite flavors just as my family's were the Peanut Cranberry and the Almond Berry.
The Snackle Mouth Granola Nut Clusters retail for $4.00 per box or 5.5 oz and can be purchased online at Abe's Market Natural Goods
