Do you remember how life was for you growing up? Did you have imaginary friends, I know some adults remember and others don't. Not everyone has imaginary friends growing up. I remember having imaginary friends while growing up, yes I'm serious. Their names were Rico, Rica and Luciana.
Rico and Rica were the parents and Luciana was the daughter. They were "around" for quite some time. My mom remembers setting a place at the table for them. Wherever I went, they went with me. When I played they played with me. Do you know where they were from? They were from COSTA RICA!
I was 3 years old and my imaginary friends which were not only 1 but in fact a family of 3 and yes they were from Costa Rica. Is that a wild coincidence or what? By the time I turned 5 years old Rico, Rica and Luciana weren't any longer with me. One day my mom asked me where they were and I said "they flew back to Costa Rica".
When I had these imaginary friends, my family didn't make much of them. In fact until last year when talks began in our family about our possible move to Costa Rica we began to remember and talk about Rico, Rica and Luciana. Which is when everything clicked for me, maybe this was meant to be since I was a kid? Maybe it is destiny or maybe a coincidence? We will never know, but that kind of mystery is always fun to have and to think about. Right?
Even more interesting is the fact that one of my neighbor's names is Luci... Oh my this is definitely getting somewhere!
Do you remember something while growing up that is or could be related to your adult life? I'm learning to pay more attention to the signs destiny throws my way.

Wow that's cool that you remember that. I have no idea if I had imaginary friends. It will be really interesting to see if pumpkin goes through that phase.
ReplyDeleteI'm too tired to look into signs, but I think you are right. Sometimes things are just connected...
My memory has always been sharp with a lot of things :D I remember so much about my childhood vividly :D Not everyone has this phase or remembers it. But it will definitely be fun to see each phase with Pumpkin. ;)
DeleteI think you were destined to spend some time of your life in Costa Rica Maribel!
ReplyDeleteI'm having some of the same things happening to me living in CA (where I spent my very early years). It happened when I went on a run and smelled the orange trees on the street. I had to stop because the smell brought back a flood of memories for me (BTW, my sense of smell is lousy so it had to be a very fragrant tree!).
There's some pain associated with being in CA but overall, it is good and I'm really happy. I'm hoping you guys are all adjusting well.
Right? I've always paid attention to signs but this one blew me away as it did with family and friends when we talked about it. And to make it even more interesting my neighbor shares a name with one of my imaginary friends! {wow!}
DeleteWe are adjusting well, just miss little things ;) But nothing major.
What a great question! I bet if I gave this some thought, there would be some links :)
ReplyDeleteHa, ha, ha I think everyone has something they remember but sometimes get distracted and forget about it. ;)
DeleteI don't think I had imaginary friends... in fact I am one of those people that has actually blocked out most of my childhood. Most things I remember are from pictures.
ReplyDeleteI'd say 80% of adults don't remember their childhood or little details such as this one. Although not every child goes through this imaginary friends phase, I once read about it and it said that roughly 40% of children do go through it.
