Brave {Review}

This week my 6 year old and I had the pleasure of attending a private screening for the new Disney-Pixar movie:

BRAVE

We knew that the movie follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voiced by Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voiced by Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin, surly Lord Macintosh and cantankerous Lord Dingwall. Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuring peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources -including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers- to undo a beastly curse before it is too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.

Our thoughts:

Adventure mom: "I loved this action packed movie, the bond between a daughter and father is a special one and this movie shows it to us. I also enjoyed how the movie shows that being brave is not about being strong character but doing what is right and showing responsibility for ones choices. Be it good or bad Brave is a fantastic movie which at times I felt was best for children ages 8+. Boys will enjoy the archery and swords too, this movie is sure to appeal boys too. The scenery of Scotland in the movie is also breathtaking!".

This movie is perfect for the whole family, there is something for everyone.

Adventure girl: "This movie is very funny, I liked all the jokes and I liked Merida riding her horse. I think that the movie was like funny, but the only thing that I did not like was when Mordu? would come into the movie... but Merida was always brave.... I want to be just like Merida!"

...And there you have it! Both Adventure Girl and I loved the movie and will definitely see it again.

Adventure Mom tip: Make sure you arrive early for the movie so you will get to enjoy "La Luna" a short film that leaves a great big smile on your face and we enjoyed very much!

Disclosure: I was invited to a private screening of Brave which facilitated the review, however all opinions and comments are 100% my own.

  1. Good reviews- we haven't seen it yet, might just wait for video as the smaller screen sometimes help things like this be not quite as scary
