In the heart of Silicon Valley is Intel Corporation and in their Corporate building called Robert Noyce Building they have a Museum, we had the pleasure of visiting it last week and learned so much about microprocessor's and computers. It helped us better understand how computers work and how far technology has come.
Here are is what you will learn when you visit:
Intel was founded in 1968 in Mountain View, California with the focus on bringing semiconductor computer memory to the market.
In 1969 it had 106 employees, today it has around 90,000 employees world wide!
Intel stands for Integrated Technology
Intel has offices in 63 countries! The headquarters are in Santa Clara, California.
Intel Core 5 was introduced in 2011 and at the moment Intel Core 7 is the one being used today.
All data entered to a computer through the keyboard is a binary combination of 0's and 1's each character has it's own combination.
A nanosecond is tooooo fast and a chip is oh so tiny! This disk is called a wafer, each of those little squares is a computer chip.
We learned what materials are conductors, semiconductors and insulators. All you have to do is choose a material and put it to the test on this screen.
