Today it has been officially a week since I started my new journey to getting healthier and losing weight. I began this journey with the following measurements:
ARM: 16.5 INCHES
BUST: 45 INCHES
THIGH: 32 INCHES
HIPS: 53.5 INCHES
WAIST: 46.5 INCHES
Current BMI {Body Mass Index} = 43.6
A typical day for me before Cinch was:
BREAKFAST: 1 egg {omelete, over easy, scrambled with cheese or veggies}, 2 slices of whole wheat toast with butter and jam on it and a cup of cafe au lait or juice.
SNACK: Whatever I found in either the pantry or the refrigerator. If we were out and about I would buy whatever I felt like eating {candy, chips, etc}
LUNCH: Once or twice a week I would stop at the drive thru and order either a burger or a meal and of course a soft drink. The rest of the days either left overs or a sandwich.
DINNER: Meat, Chicken, Fish, Shrimp or Turkey {depending on what I am making for our family} plus rice or pasta or tortillas and salad or steamed vegetables.
Now this may not seem as if I was eating so badly, however portion size never mattered. I ate until I couldn't anymore or would not stop eating throughout the day. Sometimes if everyone went to bed before me I would stay up watch some TV and nibble on a little snack. I would always find something to eat as a snack and let's be honest I did not get to 231 pounds by making healthy choices also I rarely worked out. We would take bike rides over the weekend, parking always the closest I could to the store and always taking the elevator whenever possible.
Feeling tired always. Water? Well I was not a big water drinker in fact fluids was not my thing. It was always about the food!

BREAKFAST
A tall glass of water about 12 oz. with a lemon wedge
+
Cinch Shake in either vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or latte and light soy milk. {sometimes I add strawberries or banana}
or
Cinch Meal bar either peanut butter chocolate chip and blueberry almond crisp.
LUNCH
Cinch Shake
or
Cinch Meal bar
SNACK
Cinch Energy Tea Mix in Pomegranate flavor with a lemon wedge {either iced or hot}
DINNER
Meat, Chicken, Fish, Shrimp or Turkey {depending on what I am making for our family} plus my rice or tortilla or pasta and vegetables {I honestly try to fill half of my plate with vegetables raw, cooked or steamed}
BEFORE BED SNACK
Cinch bar {lemon cranberry, chocolate decadence or peanut butter crunch}
Tall glass of water
I am drinking water throughout the day and loving it. My skin looks healthier and not as oily/greasy as before specially in my face. Also my hair is looking radiant, shinier and healthier.
The Cinch diet plan works by substituting two meals with either shakes {vanilla, chocolate, latte, strawberry} or meal bars {peanut butter chocolate chip and blueberry almond crisp}. I like mixing it up, some days I will have a shake for breakfast and dinner other days I will have a shake for breakfast and lunch. It all depends on how busy our day will be.
One thing is for sure the taste of each of these bars and shakes is delicious and I am enjoying them very much. I sometimes think I am eating something I am not supposed to eat while losing weight!
What I love about Shaklee's Cinch plan is that they also have a website which is the perfect tool for me, I can plan out my meals and log in each meal and see the amount of calories, carbs, fat, protein I have consumed through the day. This is very helpful specially for me now that I am learning about portion control. I can play a little with my food.
As far as activity goes I am walking 2 miles at least 3 times a week and throughout the day I am doing 10 squats every hour on the hour that I am awake and I am also doing a challenge that includes 10 pushups, 20 sit ups, 20 lunges and 80 jumping jacks at least once a day.
A major change in me is also that I am feeling healthier, sleeping better and feeling proud of my choices. I am not going to bed with regret or feeling guilty of my eating choices. This is a great boost for me.
And now... my current weight and measurements:
ARM: 16 INCHES {1/2 inch less}
BUST: 44 3/4 INCHES {1/4 inch less}
THIGH: 31 3/4 INCHES {1/4 inch less}
HIPS: 52 INCHES {1.5 inches less}
WAIST: 44 3/4 INCHES {2 and a quarter inch less}
Current BMI {Body Mass Index} = 42.8 {a difference of 0.8}
My first week was not as easy as it looks, the first 3 days I felt hungry and my mood was a little bit off {lots of mood swings!} I kind of felt in withdrawal from high fat, high sugar foods. After the fourth day I began to feel more calm, at peace and not hungry at night or between meals. I began spreading my 1,290 calories throughout the day and would have fresh vegetables ready for me to snack on I also began getting a little more creative in the kitchen! For example if I had no more carbs left for the day but had protein I enjoyed a turkey burger I made with eggplant instead of bread!
It was surprisingly delicious!
One of the other changes I made is instead of buying a gossip magazines or ones that would make me feel sad, depressed of what I look like or my weight I decided to buy a magazine that would encourage me and change my mind set. In addition the magazine has healthy, low fat recipes and workout routines, it also has images that make me want to workout to achieve better health.
In my first week journey I am thankful that my family and friends have given me so much support and they call, e-mail, text me with encouragement. Also remember there are 50 of us in team cinchspiration and we are in constant communication throughout the day which is encouraging and inspiring!
Losing weight is easier when you have a strong support system and you have a buddy to do it with you.
My first week is over, but my second week begins and I really do need your encouragement and motivation. I have read and responded to every single comment you have left for me to read on my previous Cinchspiration posts here, here and here Please continue to leave me comments, you can tweet me to ask how I am doing or to encourage and cheer me on. You may also leave me a message on Stroller Adventures' Facebook page and follow the Cinchspiration board on Pinterest where we are pining away our inspiration and more!

DeleteYou are doing amazing. Congrats on the weight loss. It takes time to change habits and get used to new things but you seem well on your way. So glad you are feeling better - that's the most important thing anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carolyn, for me feeling good about myself and re-learning to make healthier choices was priority! the burger with eggplant was delicious and that really was a challenge to find something to substitute the bread.... :D
DeleteWay to go! I love your happy photos! Great job!
ReplyDeleteThank you Sommer! I think that is the important outcome on this journey, my feelings and I'm feeling very happy. I am feeling good about myself and going to bed happier with what I accomplished during the day. :D That one picture where I was walking my 2 miles, I did smile but because the sun was in my face you can't really tell lol.
DeleteLove your honesty! And great job on making not only healthy food changes, but healthy mental changes--what may seem to some like a small change (switching from gossip magazine purchase to healthier/happier choices)is probably one of the most valuable tid-bits for anyone looking to make any positive change in life. And your skin does look AMAZING! Wishing you much success on your healthy life-changing journey! Kudos :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Denise, I want to let everyone know the truth even if it's with losing weight and how I feel. Honesty is key in this day in age and I truly value honesty. I am loving my skin, it's always been on the oily side and I do have occasional breakouts but this past week no breakouts and no oily skin! it looks and feels balanced... :D Thank you for taking the time to read my story and comment. I really appreciate it! Because when someone takes the time to read your story and comment it inspires and motivates you to keep going. :D

DeleteGreat job Maribel! I'm so happy for you, you are awesome.
ReplyDeleteThank you Patricia, I think that when the time is right we realize and suddenly stick to a program and open up to re-learning. :)
DeleteCongratulations!! I just had my second baby and am trying to lose the weight. You are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your baby! and thank you, I hope to inspire losing weight not for looks but mostly for health reasons. Watching what we eat is key specially when we have children, they learn from us {the good and the bad habits}. How are you losing the weight? :)
DeleteFirst, what a great post! And second, those are some pretty amazing results after just one week. =)
ReplyDeletemoving onto week 2, you can keep it going.. it really does become a lifestyle change, but if it's important enough to anyone they can make it happen =)
Can't wait to see the results at end of week 2
Thank you Jamie, it definitely is a lifestyle change... It takes learning or re-learning good/healthy eating as well as being active i.e. run, walk, dance, swim, ride bike anything and everything that will keep you active but is also fun. For me personally it is important to get to a healthy weight so I can help my body avoid illness' such as diabetes type II which runs in my family and heart failure. I hope week 2 are along the same lines of this week. :)
DeleteYEA!! Look at that progress after one week. And yes any kind of change like this is always hard at first but will soon seem just right and perfect. I know you can do it and will keep doing wonderfully. And just remember if you have one slip up day not to give up and say well I screwed up- just keep going!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Emmy, I agree.. as weeks go by I will be fully in control of my health. I am just going to take it one step at a time. :) Thank you for taking the time to read my post and comment. It means a lot to have all my friends support. :)
DeleteBefore stevia was added to the Cinch pomegranate tea, I have to say that it was something I actually ‘craved’. The flavor was so natural, with just a hint of the ‘right’ type of sweetness blended with a terrific pomegranate flavor. Having since moved away from Cinch tea altogether, I’ve rediscovered Shaklee’s CorEnergy product. To my pleasant surprise, CorEnergy provides that little extra ‘boost’ that I enjoyed with the Cinch tea. The real good news is that I’m spending about half as much as I did before. Tea is 91 cents a cup (member price), whereas CorEnergy is $1.07 for 3 capsules (daily dosage). But, I was consuming no fewer than 2 cups a day. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI honestly love pomegranate so the tea is a great snack for me :) I love teas mostly hot and enjoy them as a snack or with meals. :) I will have to read more on CorEnergy. :) Thank you for the information.
DeleteI am sure this post has touched all the internet visitors, its really really
