Wordy Wednesday "Date Night"

Since last Spring {April} my husband and I had not had an actual or should I say formal date night. We had been focused on our move, then getting settled in. I had done some research online in the past about date nights at home which is why I started a pinterest board called To Celebrate Us, but somehow we had been focused on our move, then getting settled in.

Last week we found a babysitter with whom we felt comfortable, we planed for our date night. I was very excited about this. It's nice to be a family, be together for dinner and have conversations together. Yet sometimes you just want to have a deep meaningful conversation without interruptions. Get dressed up to go out and enjoy a nice meal with your significant other. I used to think this wasn't that important, but as time has gone by I feel it is very important to make time to have these outings just us. No kids. No friends. Just my husband and I.

These outings "date nights" are when we get a chance to reconnect and talk about the present and our future. I'm very thankful we had this opportunity and got to enjoy some great sushi! :D

Since our move we've only had sushi once and it wasn't the best sushi I've had, but it was sushi. Glad we found a new place where our meal was great and the service was excellent. Thank you hubby for a nice dinner and great conversations. You made me very happy. I can't wait for our next date night! :D

How often do YOU have date nights with your significant other?

Date Night ideas in San Francisco

This weekend my husband and I will be celebrating our 12th anniversary not only that but on Saturday June 15th I will officially be 35 years old! It's my birthday! Which lead me to think about what would be the perfect way to celebrate in breezy San Francisco. We lived in the Bay Area for a little over a year and whenever we had out of town guests we would drive to San Fran and show them the town, each time I kept adding to my San Francisco Bucket List and now I've narrowed it down to 5 fun date night ideas.  ;)

It certainly wasn't easy, there are so many activities and places I'd like to enjoy a little more. Nonetheless here are some ideas:

1.- Ride a bike across the Golden Gate Bridge, bikes can be rented at Pier 41 in Fisherman's Wharf along with the helmets and the bikes have a map of Fisherman's Wharf all the way through Marin County for you to ride across to Sausalito and enjoy the scenery. I would then enjoy a picnic in Sausalito with the gorgeous view of the Bay bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island and the City.

2.- Spend a night in Sausalito's Casa Madrona Hotel and Spa, the view from the room is spectacular! {at least that is what I noticed when I visited their site}. I would order room service to dine in the room's balcony while enjoying the sunset. Their spa also seems so relaxing

3.- Have a picnic at sunset at Marina Park which has a view of Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge, maybe some clam chowder soup and crab Louie salad from Alioto's? {Hey I can dream, right?}.

4.- Take a nighttime cruise along the Bay to see the City lights and float under the Golden Gate Bridge at night. I bet it looks spectacular! Of course I would do this sans kids and turn it into a date night. ;)

5.- Have dinner on any given Sunday in Little Italy, we've driven by and it looks so relaxing and different. The tables are setup on the sidewalk facing the street and every time we have driven by I think to myself maybe some day just a little dinner date :) it also looks so chic!

I hope this is helpful for you and that someday we get to do at least one of these activities. For now we are going to enjoy celebrating being together through fun adventures. :D

What do you think of my list?

Would you add to this list?

Date Night in San Jose

Since our move to NorCal, Adventure Dad and I have not been able to go out on dates as often as we'd like. However over the summer we had the opportunity to do so.  We had no idea where we wanted to go, we kind of drove around and then decided to visit Santana Row.

It was my first visit to Santana Row, I had no idea what to expect. After walking around for a bit we decided to enjoy an appetizer at Hot Tamales Cantina. It's a fun Mexican Cantina/restaurant decorated with true "Lucha Libre" {which is Wrestling in Spanish} accents. The ambiance was perfect to have a conversation without having to shout over the music in addition the service was excellent!

The nachos and drinks, were delicious and then after we finished eating the server brought us some freshly made cotton candy. I am a big fan of cotton candy so I was excited to have it all to myself! :D

I was so happy to have enjoyed a nice evening out with Adventure Dad and find a new place we both liked to visit again soon.

Hot Tamales Cantina is located inside Santana Row in San Jose at 3055 Olin Avenue. You can also make reservations by calling (408) 249-8000.
