San Diego
Are you relocating to San Diego?
Are you considering moving to San Diego?
Are you about to travel to San Diego for a job interview and subsequently move your family to San Diego?
Then,
Welcome to beautiful sunny (roughly 340 days out of the year) San Diego!
Congratulations you have just made one of the most important decisions in your life! You have decided to give another city a try. You based your decision on work mostly {I'm guessing} but also on what is best for your family and that should be your priority: YOUR FAMILY.
Moving is always filled with emotions. You are happy, elated, excited, positive, optimistic and at the same time you are sad, anxious, nervous and afraid. Believe me, I know.
Well let's just say I am in the midst of relocating our family to the other side of our Golden State.
How do I know?
Well let's just say I am in the midst of relocating our family to the other side of our Golden State.
Believe me we are happy, but the moving part is a bit of a challenge considering we are still roughly 500 miles away and each City, works differently. So let me break it down for you here in San Diego.
All over San Diego you have nothing but friendly people, great schools, great places to live and lots of places to enjoy with your family. There are lots of events to choose from every weekend.
Traffic is ok, all you have to know is that I5 and I805 heading North will have mid-heavy traffic from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and then Southbound you will run into mid-heavy traffic from 4:00 pm.. - 5:30 p.m. on weekdays. So allowing yourself 30 minutes from point "A" to point "B" should be sufficient.
Downtown San Diego is always fun it is home to the Historic Gaslamp Quarter which has lots of restaurants and delicious bakeries to choose from. You will also find Petco Park in the Downtown area which is home to our MLB team Padres. There is also Seaport Village which is a very nice place to enjoy a meal while watching the bay with boats pass by and also works for a great walk, bike ride or flying a kite. Seaport Village has restaurants, unique gift shops, live entertainment and a carousel. They have private parking in their lot for a fee or you may choose to park on the street and use the many parking meters {make sure you have quarters with you}.
The Convention Center is also in Downtown San Diego as well as Amtrak Santa Fe Depot which allows you visit Downtown without driving through scenic views of our county. I highly suggest upon arrival and when you are finally settled in at your new home to take a nice train ride from Santa Fe Depot to Solana Beach and enjoy the scenery then walk around the beach in Solana Beach, have lunch and finally enjoy the beautiful sunset at around 5 p.m. and then take the train back home. You are sure to enjoy this! I guarantee. San Diego International Airport (SAN) is also located in the downtown area.
Balboa Park is located East of downtown San Diego. You don't know what Balboa Park is? Let me give you a little bit of a description: Museums Galore and lots of entertainment for the whole family for just about every weekend of the year! and no I am not exaggerating. Picture this 16 different Museums that range from art to photography to science to craft to history to railroad. Amazing right? Then of course you have the world famous San Diego Zoo home to roughly 800 species of animals that means about 4,000 resident animals {that is a lot!}. To visit I suggest at least 3 hours and still you will not finish the whole zoo in that amount of time just so you know ;)
I know you might be feeling excited after reading about San Diego, I still haven't finished. There is more to share with you like more places to visit, housing and groceries {yes this is key because if you didn't have the same stores we have you might feel lost} but we will cover all of these in a separate post. So continue to check on us as we share more information for you. :)
And don't forget to relax, take a deep breath and enjoy this change.
Embrace your new city {I know I am, even when I am stressed ;) }
