Ride The Ducks Tour -San Francisco {Review}

This weekend our family took a different and new adventure, we enjoyed a tour of San Francisco with Ride The Ducks. It is one of the largest touring operator companies in the U.S. which takes you on a tour  aboard an amphibious bus. It can drive on land and cruise on water. In this case the San Francisco Bay. We boarded "The Duck" {that is what their buses are called} at noon, but right before you go up the stairs to your seat you get your picture taken outside "The Duck" and are given noise makers that sound exactly like ducks and look like duck beaks. 

The tour lasts 90 minutes which includes 25 minutes out on the San Francisco Bay. The Duck has comfortable seating and each seat is for 2 people. We decided to split the kids so I sat with Adventure Girl and Adventure Dad and Boy were seated together. 

Then our tour began with Captain Jon as our driver/captain/tour guide and we quacked our way through:  

Fisherman's Wharf

Ghirardelli Square

North Beach

Chinatown

Union Square

South of Market {SoMA}

South Beach

The Ferry Building

All this on land and while listening, singing and quacking to music from 70's to date! Every single sight has its own music and it is carefully themed to the place you are in. For example in Chinatown you listen to "I will Survive" in Chinese! and in North Beach where Little Italy is located you will hear "That's Amore!" 

Captain Jon then prepared us for entering the Bay! Adventure Girl couldn't believe we were about to go into the water in "The Duck"! She was both excited and nervous. Our Captain did a great job at explaining all about safety and showing us how to put on and wear a life vest....and then.... We were in the Bay!!! 

Everyone in our tour was excited and smiling. Here are some images of what we saw in the Bay. 

We couldn't believe all we saw while on the Bay and we were asked if anyone was interested to drive "the duck" in the water! Of course you know me, I jumped from my seat and raised my hand.

Back on land and on our way back to Fisherman's Wharf, we saw a different part of San Francisco:

Here's what Adventure Girl thought of the tour:

"My favorite part was being in the Ocean and getting a "quack" noise maker, I loved seeing the Ocean so close!"

Here's what I think about the tour:

"Whether you are local or from out of town this is a must! You will see all that San Francisco has to offer and pin point what you'd like to see in detail for later in the day, the staff at Ride The Ducks is fantastic they are always smiling and do their best to make you feel comfortable. They are also very knowledgeable and can share information, tips and stories with you that you will not find anywhere else. Like when Captain Jon mentioned that the cranes at the port were the inspiration for George Lucas' for the snow monsters in Star Wars"

A couple of Adventure Mom tips before you ride the duck:

• If you have long hair wear it in a braid or ponytail, believe me you'll thank me for it. {Just look at my hair in the pictures!}

• Even if it feels hot take a light jacket with you, the temperatures around the city are different than the ones from the bay and there is a breeze.

• Have your camera handy at all times and be ready to have some fun! 

• There are no bathrooms on the duck, so make sure you go before you take your tour.

• Parking is easy if you do so at Fisherman's Wharf sign {across the street from where you take your tour}

• Relax and enjoy the tour!
