Ice Age: Continental Drift {DVD review}

We love a great family movie and better yet when it makes us laugh and learn at the same time. The holiday season is upon us and along with it cooler weather which makes it perfect for enjoying movies as a family. On our latest family movie night we enjoyed the sequel to one of our favorite movies ICE AGE: Continental Drift.

This movie has something for everyone and to be honest we love Ray Romano's voice {he is the voice behind Manny a very lovable and over protective Mammoth}, there's also Diego and Adventure Girl's favorite Sid {voiced by John Leguizamo}. This time there is double the Sloth fun when Sid is reunited with his Granny -who hasn't had a bath in a looooong time!

In this chapter of Ice Age Manny, Diego and Sid embark upon a high-seas adventure after their continent is set adrift. They use an iceberg as a ship and encounter sea creatures as well as battle pirates while they are trying to reunite with their herd. While having all these adventures, Sid reunites with his Granny and the herd encounters seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.

This DVD has bonus material such as an all new coloring app with Blu-ray features, interactive features such as "Party with a Pirate!" mode, sing and dance along songs, music videos, deleted scenes and more! In addition you can watch the film in sign along mode with American Sign Language interpretation.

Here's what Adventure Girl had to say:

"I love the part where Sid's grandma jumps in the water and says this is her first bath in years! Sid is my favorite character he makes me laugh a lot! he's very silly!"

Here's what I have to say:

"This is a fun movie perfect for enjoying as a family, what I like the most about family movies is that the always have something to teach or remind us. This movie reminded me of how much as parents we do and give for our children unconditional love."

Mark your Calendars for December 11th you won't want to miss the Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D and DVD release of Ice Age: Continental Drift! It's the perfect stocking stuffer or Christmas gift.

Disclosure: We were provided with a copy of Ice Age: Continental Drift which made our review easier, however all opinions expressed on this post are my own.

Frankenweenie

Frankenweenie opens in theaters tonight!

Will you be seeing it this weekend with your kids?

Here are some fun facts about Frankenweenie:

  •       “Frankenweenie” follows in the footsteps of Tim Burton’s other stop-motion animated films “Corpse Bride” and “The Nightmare Before Christmas”—both of which were nominated for Academy Awards®.

    •           Stop-motion animation is one of the oldest animation styles. There are 24 frames per second in the stop motion for “Frankenweenie.” This means that the animator must stop and position the puppet 24 times to get one second of filmed action. On average, one animator can only produce 5 seconds of animation per week.  Multiple puppets of the same character allowed animators to work on more than one scene at once. There were as many as 18 animators working independently of each other at one time.

    •           “Frankenweenie” is the first animated film that Tim Burton has directed for Disney.

    •         All of the characters in “Frankenweenie” are based on Tim Burton’s drawings. He did some of the drawings in 1984 when the original live-action short of “Frankenweenie” was done and the others he drew especially for this new, feature-length animated version.

    •     The talented voice cast includes four actors who worked with Burton on previous films: Winona Ryder (“Beetlejuice,” “Edward Scissorhands”), Catherine O’Hara (“Beetlejuice,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas”), Martin Short (“Mars Attacks!”) and Martin Landau (“Ed Wood,” Sleepy Hollow”).

And just in case you were wondering what the movie kind of looks like here is one of the official trailers:

It's the perfect family movie to enjoy on this first weekend of October!
